UPDATE: A Watch That Was Worn on the Moon Sells for $1.6 Million USD
Apollo 15 astronaut Dave Scott’s personal Bulova chronograph.

UPDATE: HODINKEE has reported astronaut Dave Scott’s Bulova sold for a whopping $1,625,000 USD after buyer’s commission was tallied.
Unfortunately, the Omega Speedmasters issued by NASA to its astronauts are property of the United States government — meaning the space-bound watches virtually never make it into the hands of civilians. Now, however, you have a chance to own a timepiece that’s been all the way to the moon and back as Apollo 15 astronaut Dave Scott’s personal Bulova chronograph is up for sale. Worn by Scott on a NASA-issued Velcro strap, the piece is still covered in lunar residue and sports the wear-and-tear that reentry inflicted upon it.
Perhaps the only lunar-worn watch in private hands, the unique find will be sold by RR Auction online October 15 and is expected to go for $50,000 USD.
