In this edition of Pen & Paper, we explore the often unpredictable nature of fluid mediums with Amsterdam-based Rop van Mierlo. Specializing in bled-out watercolors, he refrains from over-controlling the process, instead allowing the ink to spread across wet paper as organically as the animals he often depicts. This emphasis being “uncontrolled” has stuck with him since his childhood, allowing his work to retain an air of innocence even as his style has matured. After enjoying the video above, be sure to head here for more from our Pen & Paper series.
