SZA – “Teen Spirit” & “Julia”

Electro alt-pop songstress SZA has been on the rise lately and various parties have taken notice, from Holy Other and Emile Haynie to the bigwigs at Billboard. Our friends at HYPETRAK have been savvy enough to direct their attentions toward the 23-year-old New Jersey native. SZA embodies an old, geology-loving soul within her youthful alto pitch, singing stories of being young, preferring solitude, and yet also loving to party. After working with the TDE camp on a new, undisclosed project, SZA was also able to work on her own forthcoming Z EP. Below are two offcuts from the album, the ’80s pop-inflected “Julia,” and the wonderfully harmonic “Teen Spirit.” Enjoy the songs, and look out for Z to hit the internet in the near future.
