FriendsWithYou is an art collective started by Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III in 2002. Their post-pop style reflects their simple messages of magic, luck and friendship. One of the iconic symbols of this style and FriendsWithYou has always been The Cloud, itself intended as a means to bring calm and joy to the viewer.
Fox Network’s ADHD (Animation Domination High Def) programming block recently commissioned a special light installation titled “Into the Clouds” for its animation studio. Hanging from the space’s 26-foot-high ceiling, each of the five clouds measure 2.5 feet and are placed at different elevations, following the viewer as they go up and down the staircase.
It’s no doubt that FriendsWithYou sought to realize the simplicity of their message through the equally simple design of their installation, allowing it to light the space while remaining unobtrusive and inspiring.
