Originally conceived as a trailer to a “fake” movie for a senior-year project at the University of Texas at Dallas, filmmaker Paul Tellefsen’s Instagram Is has blossomed into an in-depth look at everyone’s favorite photo-sharing platform. Said Tellefsen:
In a culture immersed in technology, Instagram is reviving adventure, face to face community and real relationships. How can something so digital actually get people out from behind their devices into the analog world?
Ultimately, Instagram Is looks to answer that very question. Following the creation of his “fake” trailer, Tellefsen set off across the country, thus resulting in this capstone project – a nearly 25-minute-long documentary that explores the community and relationships fostered by the ubiquitous platform as users across the United States share thoughts on what Instagram means to them.
