The release of Strictly 4 My P.A.P.I.Z a couple of months ago bore several statements for New York rap. One, it fused the legacy of intentionally gritty, boom-bap aesthetics with the energetic, trap-influenced thump of today. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, it contained a song — “My Name It Pt.2” — which for many blog perusers was their first introduction to Bodega Bamz.
