Deniro Farrar first crossed our radars as the sentimental rapper which bootlegged Grime‘s “Genesis.” With help from Ryan Hemsworth on the remix, the North Carolina rapper engineered the beat with heartbroken rhyming, taking the experimental track to darker, poignant areas. If the bootleg came as a teaser to Farrar’s uninhibited rap skills, then his latest mixtape drop The Patriarch delves further into the realm of adulterated, indie hip-hop. Like many of his contemporaries which merge drone-like samples and nimbus beats with provocative slang, Ferrar’s delivery is sinister with intent. Yet Farrar goes further then his cohorts, trading in swagger-ability for disorientating street philosophy, if you will, and merges sensibilities of Clams Casino with Immortal Technique. Joining Ryan Hemsworth on the tape are a list of other fledgling beat heads such as Keyboard Kid, Friendzone, K20 and more. Listen for yourself and share your thoughts below.
