Under The Radar Mag has been putting together this stellar series of guest mixes from esteemed musicians all around. This week’s guest was BC, Canada’s own Teen Daze. Here’s what the mix is about in his own words:
I spend a lot of my time and energy focused on electronic music, whether that’s creating it, experiencing it in a live setting or being inspired and influenced by it. But I’m definitely not the sort of person that can only listen to one type of music. Throughout my life, I’ve been exposed to so many different genres and sounds, and I’ve always found things I can connect with various types of music. So even though the majority of my creative output happens through the lens of electronic music, I, like most everyone else in their mid-20s, loves “rock music.” The reason I say “rock music” with quotations, is because I know that plenty of people who don’t get much deeper than mainstream, would listen to these songs and think, “this is not the rock music I know.” And it isn’t, I suppose. But that’s what I love about it. All these bands are taking the form of “rock music” and creating something new and exciting with it. Some of this touches on sounds originating in the 60s, 70s and 80s, and some of it has such a fresh sound, that it’s hard to pinpoint its origins.
So with all that being said, I thought I’d compile a mix of some of my favorite contemporary “rock/indie/lo-fi/whatever” music! Hope you enjoy!
