If you were alive and able to change the channel in the 1990s, then you know of the show Family Matters. While the theme song “As Days Go By“ performed by Jesse Frederick may not have always been the most memorable part of the show, Mark Fain, lead singer of Gun Lake would like to reintroduce the tune for the masses. The stripped down rendition of the track comes by way of SYFFAL’s Pop Cultures Collide series, where the site gives bands the opportunity to cover some of their favorite theme songs from TV shows/movies/cartoons/video games/etc. from our childhood. Fain left the following message in regards to his interesting choice of cover by stating:
When I was asked to do a pop culture cover, I chose the Family Matters theme because the only reason I am a good person is that I know Bruce Lee Urkel will find me should I waver from the path of righteousness. Incidentally, Ike of The Coasts blew my mind with the information that Family Matters is a spin-off of Perfect Strangers (For proof, go to 1:45 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ39lywANPs).
