Tyler Flanagan Charges Mammoth on a Solar-Powered Snowboard

A solar-powered snowboard sounds like a Bill Nye project gone terribly right, yet somehow the good people at Signal Snowboards built a custom plank that actually does harness the power of the sun. Using a specialized film from Powerfilm Solar, the designers at Signal teamed with Dave Lee and integrated the thinned-down panel into a board, giving snowboarders a new function for their rides: device charging capabilities. After finishing the board, Signal went to Mammoth Mountain in California to test the board’s functionality with Winter X-Gamer Tyler Flanagan. Watch as Flanagan rips through the slopes of Mammoth, all the while using green technology to power his phone. While the so-called “solar snowboard” may not be in mass production, it makes for an interesting look at the possibilities when creativity and passion meet.
