Having featured China-born artist Cai Guo-Qiang in our inaugural issue of the HYPEBEAST Magazine, we’ve come to learn of his affection towards explosives. In his recent project conducted within the city of DC, the pyrotechnic creative sends off a total of 2,000 explosions up the shaft of a 40-foot-tall pine tree — a festive offering for the winter holiday month. With the intent to brighten up and stimulate the city, Cai Guo-Qiang’s exploding tree will remain a burning vigil of positive ‘Feng Shui’ for DC’s residents.
