The Neptunes producer Pharrell Williams has been called up to supervise the music of the 84th Academy Awards and will work alongside Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer. Pharrell, who is no stranger to the movie business – having written tracks for Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, composed the original score for Despicable Me, as well as making a cameo appearance alongside Diddy in Get Him to the Greek – will be sailing on unchartered waters with Zimmer, as the music consultant role is new to the Oscars.
It remains to be seen what the pair will have in store when the curtains are drawn on February 26, 2012, but Academy Awards OscarCast producer Don Mischer states that “this is an exciting and prestigious collaboration that promises to take the audience on a musical journey.” Another great achievement for the producer from Virginia.
Check out the very first track released that credits P as producer circa 1994, Blackstreet’s “Tonight’s The Night” featuring SWV & Craig Mack.
