In the run-up to his forthcoming studio album Velvet Portraits, Terrace Martin has been releasing nothing but heat. Today, he’s continuing that streak with another new track. Taking inspiration from the legendary A Tribe Called Quest, Martin uses his latest as a way to pay tribute to an act that made him who he is. “Without A Tribe Called Quest there would not be a Terrace Martin,” he tells FADER. Crediting ATCQ with introducing him to jazz, the west coast musician adds, “I wouldn’t even be a musician because ATCQ is what made me want to play the saxophone.” “Tribe Called West” will be featured on Martin’s forthcoming LP, and features contributions from Keyon Harrold.
