'Beowulf' TV Series Official Trailer
The legend heads to Esquire Network next year.
Esquire Network has premiered the official trailer for its forthcoming television series Beowulf, based on the legendary heroic tale that has been celebrated for over a thousand years. Through a season of 13 one-hour episodes, the drama will follow Beowulf as he returns home to Herot. While attempting to make amends with his past, Beowulf becomes entangled in an intricate narrative that results in the wrongful accusation that he has committed murder. As he embarks on a mission to identify the true killer, viewers witness the complicated characterization of a damaged hero disillusioned with the world around him. Taking place in the mythological Shieldlands, the story will challenge all notions of good and evil, exploring the complexities inherent in a society supposedly governed by a moral code. The series is set to star Kieran Bew (Da Vinci’s Demons) as Beowulf, William Hurt (Damages) as Hrothgar, and Joanne Whalley (Wolf Hall) as Rheda. Beowulf will premiere on Esquire Network on January 23. You can watch the full trailer above.
