After a period of being away from the limelight, Ms. Lauryn Hill returns with a release of her new tune “Neurotic Society (Compulsory Mix).” The song comes imbued with emotions on the current negative state of the music industry, and additionally serves as a timely ode of respect for the loss of Kris Kross member and “former label mate” Chris Kelly who’s unfortunate death warrants a more immediate audience for the tune’s messages. Despite the pertinence in the recent release, Hill would still have rather the tune be released later, as it was down to an impending legal deadline that ‘rushed’ its release and current availability on iTunes. More from the artist on this matter below:
“Here is a link to a piece that I was ‘required’ to release immediately, by virtue of the impending legal deadline. I love being able to reach people directly, but in an ideal scenario, I would not have to rush the release of new music… but the message is still there. In light of Wednesday’s tragic loss (of former label mate Chris Kelly), I am even more pressed to YELL this to a multitude that may not understand the cost of allowing today’s unhealthy paradigms to remain unchecked!”
