Having won three Formula One world championships before his life was tragically cut short at the age of 34 following a horrific crash at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, Brazilian racing legend Ayrton Senna serves as inspiration for the latest superbike from Ducati: a Brazil-exclusive “Senna” edition of the 1199 Panigale S. A renowned Ducati enthusiast in his lifetime, Senna’s commemorative bike is a nod to a special grey/red edition he handpicked at Ducati’s Italian factory in 1994 – a motif that was featured on a trio of Ducati 916 tributes to Senna in the 1990s. Limited to just 161 production models – the same number of F1 races in which the driver competed – the 2014 Ducati 1199 Panigale S “Senna” Edition will be exclusively available in Senna’s home country of Brazil and will make its public debut at Sao Paulo’s Two Wheels Motorcycle Show.
