Shot on an iPhone 3GS entirely with Instagram filters, “Summer Eleven” is a short, experimental film by Brazilian director Fernando Sanches. The feature consists of 977 photos taken during his travels in the summer of 2011, a trip that included stops in the European locales of Berlin, Lisbon and Amsterdam. “Summer Eleven” — while not the first film to utilize Instagram — is perhaps most notable for its innovative and skillful use of the stop-motion technique, the execution reflecting Sanches’ background in both animation and photography. The photos used in the feature were originally released via the director’s @summer_eleven and utilized his favored “Earlybird” filter. Watch “Summer Eleven” above and let us know your thoughts on the innovative film.
