Over the weekend, two big shows opened simultaneously at the Jonathon Levine Gallery in New York. Featuring Mark Dean Veca’s “As Cold As They Come” and D*FACE’s “Ludovico Aversion Therapy / All Your Dreams Belong to Us”, art fans were treated to some awesome works of art throughout from two accomplished personalites. The trademark illustrative styles of Mark Dean Veca in his signature bright orange came to life in all its intricate detailings as he remixed some classic pieces of pop culture including Popeye and The Godfather. Conversely, D*FACE’s focus included inspirations by A Clockwork Orange to which half the exhibition’s title was derived. Aside from canvasses, other mediums were on hand including wood pieces and sculptures. Some of D*FACE’s defining pieces were a few vintage school desks and to which he added his own little touches for a contemporary update on some old school graffiti. Both shows will run until October 10th, 2009.
