OKAY, for the person that said “Keep the 80’s steez in the 80’s homie!”, I disagree with you, I’m ALL for the 80’s return in fashion – some of the most creative and unique styles were in that decade. I was just expecting Kanye to bring something better….a Tiger hoody? I was expecting some “funky” designs and patterns.

for real, Kanye is looking maaaaaaaaaaad hobo lately with the unkempt hair and partial facial hair.

“I liked Kanye better when he dressed like Carlton”

haha dude sounds like a old school”Speak and Spell” toy!!

I love that so many people must remark on Kanye and I am one of them. I truly enjoyed the performance on SNL his singing wasn’t the greatest but the stage show was great. the background reminded me of Marc Jacobs runway show, with the clouds and lightning and such.

  12. Posted by: JerseyFame on December 16, 2008 at 5:56 pm

Hypebeast please stop defending Kanye…he doesnt need that. It takes away when you jump to his aid. You dont have to do that. If people dont like it they are not hating, people are allowed not to like stuff. Its ok.

Besides, this is a spectacle…Kanye used to be mad humble and then he started declaring himself one of the best rappers ever. No need for him to be saying that. Black Thought will murder him in one verse…so if he can claim greatness…other people can claim wackness.

I dont miss Kanye…he’s still here. I am impressed at his ability to create buzz and draw attention. But his talent does not impress me at all lyrically or his singing. The best thing he does is create a great set to perform with and he is very good at brainwashing the skinny jean kids out there. His marketing is flawless.

Just remember hypebeast…you jumpin in to help him makes YOU look like a stan…I mean a fan.

Kanye is good. Post some streetwear that doesnt look like it was made in a basement. Something inspired by a company who has a purpose and an agenda. that would be epic. Alot of this stuff looks like a bunch of “toys” got together and had a connect with you guys to get exposure.

I read your blog and enjoy alot of the material. But Im not gonna let u guys get away with “good ol’ boy networking”…stop hooking up your friends and find the talent.

thats why labels are failing. These A&R’s are signing their buddies and not the talent.

In other words…get your asses to work.

    Mad love,

    F.A.M.E.

Im looking closely at the detailing involved in the jacket….. If it was a solid piece with no Tiger/Dragon/Recycled Bullshit it would be pretty ill .

  14. Posted by: Jason on December 16, 2008 at 4:02 pm

other pastelle pieces looked good so far but that tiger piece is suspect

  15. Posted by: CommonSensei on December 16, 2008 at 3:41 pm

i don’t know who said it, but they could not be more incorrect. the eyes on that tiger do not look more traditionally japanese in style than an ed hardy. they are less traditional than ed hardy, who does draw in a traditional tatoo style. just lettin you know. . .

  16. Posted by: Quicksriker on December 16, 2008 at 3:35 pm

I had t fast forward the DVR past Kanye’s performance. It was bad!

  17. Posted by: They made me a queer on December 16, 2008 at 2:02 pm

WTF ? Even my pyjama’s are better tailored.
I knew pastelle was going to be wack, but …

Just look at that sweater ! It’s not worth a buck !
How about that jacket ?! I saw the exact one yesterday on some manga addicted kids

  18. Posted by: TERROR-torial on December 16, 2008 at 1:02 pm

Ya’ll can’t fake, 808’s as an all around MUSIC album was pretty dope and well put together, i’m guessing he wants to be looked at as an artist nowadays instead of a rapper and thats cool in my book……HOWEVER, if i hear another all-autotune track from ANYONE! i’m gonna vince van gogh myself! nah j/k

But the crewneck and jesus peices are dope, and the hoody is put together very nicely except for that dumb ass tiger design

  19. Posted by: richB on December 16, 2008 at 12:03 pm

    What this nigga usin? outta-tune?

  20. Posted by: short on December 16, 2008 at 8:07 am

Kanye…this is what happens when you go from being Kanye West to Remarkable. “Purple Cow”….This dude is a fucking Genius.

  21. Posted by: Dookie Brown on December 16, 2008 at 6:37 am

Kanye is the HYPEBEAST…That hoody ROARS of WACKNESS…Keep the 80’s steez in the 80’s homie!…Be original…

  22. Posted by: DMC on December 16, 2008 at 6:33 am

He sounds like an old school SPEAK AND SPELL toy!…”The cow says moooo”…

  23. Posted by: Hedi on December 16, 2008 at 5:06 am

Utter tasteless. Both his clothing and his live performance.

Kanye SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS =/I Miss The OLD Kanye

  25. Posted by: justice on December 16, 2008 at 4:50 am

Pastelle is going to be an avant garde brand…. its not going to be for everone… and your going to have to understand fashion to wear it correctly… it will distinguish the fashionistas from the normal people who only understand a t-shirt and fitted cap….its about time!

  26. Posted by: JUwellNyC! Wash Hieghts on December 16, 2008 at 4:38 am

Damn his performance was rough? it sounds like the sound man done fucked up his performance by not setting up the autotone machine correctly. n yes that tiger hoodie is Garbage. he definitely needs to go back to his barber from back in the day cause that thing hes grownin on his head look like a chia pet. type shyt I jus wanna water it.

  27. Posted by: TN87 on December 16, 2008 at 4:18 am

Um….I’m not really feeling the Jacket, I mean it’s alright, but I was expecting something more….unique lol, and OOoh a yellow sweater with Pastelle on it, C’mon you can do better. I actually liked the one he wore at the AMA better.

  28. Posted by: myspace.com/THATSKULL on December 16, 2008 at 3:31 am

i am kinda feeling the hoodie just cuz of the tigers eyes its less of a ed hardy and more of a traditional japanese tattoo kind of fell…watever …he aint hungry no more.

  29. Posted by: Saint Agnes on December 16, 2008 at 2:49 am

I was wondering what the fuck he was wearing such an ugly jacket for. And that sweatshirt? Snoozzzzze. His singing sucked, he needs a haircut. But I liked the video screens (though I wouldn’t have kept looping the animation), I’m guessing it was the awesome skills of Eric Dalbin!

  30. Posted by: nick katherina on December 16, 2008 at 2:21 am

^ no, whatever happend to “kanye to the” or chicago kanye?
what happend to family values and rapping about jesus, what happend to the guy who was greatful just to be alive and not proud of his money, fame and models that he’s smashed. He is a truest form of hype, he is the definition of “hype kills”. R.I.P. Ye.

  31. Posted by: JMS on December 16, 2008 at 1:12 am

His Pastelle line is terrible… now he’s trying to intern at a fashion house? Hard to take serious with his garbage tiger hoodie and crewneck fleece that screams out his brand… major fail Kanye

  32. Posted by: Ewok on December 16, 2008 at 1:07 am

Stopped listening to this clown a long ass time ago.. Whatever happend to the Louis Viutton Don?

  33. Posted by: Kimmie212 on December 16, 2008 at 12:03 am

Damn..Kanye must have really did it! Every site I go to he always has negative comments about him. I can’t defend him…not this time. I MISS THE OLD KANYE!

  34. Posted by: Reilly O'Brien on December 15, 2008 at 11:32 pm

Do you think the prices of pastelle gear will be like BBC taxed or maybe even more?

  35. Posted by: Oozers55 on December 15, 2008 at 11:32 pm

When the album dropped, I thought it was great. But i had doubts that Kanye could successfully perform his material. Auto-tune cannot save him when he is performing live.

  36. Posted by: kko on December 15, 2008 at 11:28 pm

well i think he’s handsome. and i also like his Jesus chain :)

  37. Posted by: Yeppie on December 15, 2008 at 11:14 pm

    that hoody is something serious
    I love it “)

  38. Posted by: panda666 on December 15, 2008 at 10:53 pm

the hoody does looks like ed hardy’s style, which is the style i hate alot…lol…personally, i think BAPE hoodys look much better than this one he wears…also i hate the black leather gloves he wears, but i agree the black gloves on a black man is very political about raicism…maybe he is too hype right now, so i can’t understand his taste anymore…lol…

god he got a terrible look goin on in that performance…..looks like Cameo or sumthin from the 80s, is he aight???

  42. Posted by: SDO on December 15, 2008 at 9:58 pm

He probably was sick or something because his past live peformances were ok

  43. Posted by: RecluIgloo.blogspot.com on December 15, 2008 at 9:13 pm

Kanye is sucking by the hour, I did buy the album though. And he needs to quit with this passive aggressive “pop-art” bull, just make your music, no gimmicks. He’ll never be a real boy hahahaha life sucks

  44. Posted by: DJZO on December 15, 2008 at 9:12 pm

    crew neck is clean &
kanye is more jermey scott than ed hardy people..

  45. Posted by: DETROIT FRESH on December 15, 2008 at 9:06 pm

kanye birthed the style and state of mind that most of you dudes clamor to. honestly, where would the music or fashion game be at right now if kanye never hit the scene? look in the mirror, look at your music collection, look around you period and try NOT to find SOMETHING that kanye hasn’t influenced. it’s so much hate in the world right now

  46. Posted by: Serv on December 15, 2008 at 9:03 pm

Kanye wanted to get himself up to the point that he could fucking fart on a track and every1 will eat it up. unfortunately, he did it on 12 tracks and released a crap-album. And of course, as he knew, every1 ate it up. Good job everybody.

  47. Posted by: Makana on December 15, 2008 at 8:58 pm

Karaoke Kanye and his Faux Fashion…

Haha, na i dunno. I mean, no he’s not exactly hitting the notes, but you hear stuff live that doesn’t match what’s done in the studio all the time. Whatever, he’s got the cash and the name so he does what he wants, i would too.

The jacket, however, is kinda lame.

  48. Posted by: D.N.E! on December 15, 2008 at 8:54 pm

Not feelin the jacket, but those shades and the crewneck is dope

  52. Posted by: flyordie on December 15, 2008 at 8:39 pm

son yall hating on him give him credit ye is a genius i mean the pastelle crewnecks fire the hoodie is ok i wasnt expecting it i did look like ed hardy but he always does the unthinkable

  53. Posted by: dex on December 15, 2008 at 7:36 pm

at this point he can do whateverTF he wants. imo, he could’ve done it right but didn’t on the first go-round. we’ll see in his future lines if the “internships” pay off.

  54. Posted by: k2theillest on December 15, 2008 at 7:32 pm

im a big kanye fan and enjoyed 808’s but i hope this is the last autotune album

  55. Posted by: younggunna on December 15, 2008 at 7:10 pm

he should just stay in the studio

  56. Posted by: marv albert on December 15, 2008 at 6:47 pm

kanye cant sing. he knows it. he knows he sounds like shit. he could have someone backstage correcting it, but he doest. he could sing over a recording but he isnt. hes doing it on purpose cause thats what he wants to do. while i wouldnt pay money to see it, i did pay money for the album and i did dvr this show so yeah. it may not be a success live, but i think he’s doing it cause he wants to, and that’s fine by me.

  57. Posted by: zipper on December 15, 2008 at 6:39 pm

wow, kanye is looking tired in the first and second pics

  58. Posted by: m-stunna on December 15, 2008 at 6:17 pm

first things first, the nigga needs to fire his barber

  59. Posted by: Gamma on December 15, 2008 at 6:14 pm

the jacket is okay. His performance is weak. He does need a backup singer. The graphic is always in great way.

  60. Posted by: mrkshrry on December 15, 2008 at 5:57 pm

crewneck is wicked, but nothing special

and first thing i thought about the hoodie, was exactly ed hardy

which other people have said as well

  61. Posted by: PabloFamoso on December 15, 2008 at 5:55 pm

this is actually his third appearance. it’s only his second this season.

  62. Posted by: JerseyFame on December 15, 2008 at 5:52 pm

    jacket = horrible

    singing = terrible

Kanye remodeling himself into a pop superstar = priceless.

Anyone remember when kanye wore polos and levis with some dunks and a backpack…and his only jackets were pea coats. Thats when the dude was fresh. Now he is doing what it takes to be “different”. Too bad all different aint “dope”.

The kid has his money right, so basically you cant tell him nothing.

  63. Posted by: pissed off sneakerhead on December 15, 2008 at 5:32 pm

WOW HORRIBLE!!! Dont get me wrong Kanye is one talented dude especially when hes doing tracks for Jay. Im not even gonna front the new direction hes taking is ok too, but his live performance was HORRIBLE!! People keep saying its cause hes not used to singing then why the hell is he singing then. Dont let the audience be your test to see if you can sing get some DAMN lessons and perfect your craft. PLUS, when you come out dressed like a retard and you sound bad it just makes non Hip-hip people (like the ones who watch SNL) hate hop hip even more. There like “look at this moron I can do that.” I was pretty excited about teh new fashion idea too, “Pastelle” but that has been a huge let down so far. After seeing the shoe Kanye did with Nike I realized that he has no fashion sense. I heard hes heading over to Europe to study fashion. HE better study alot harder cause if he comes out with a product thats like that live performance he just did then hes in big trouble.

  64. Posted by: Tillz on December 15, 2008 at 5:18 pm

Why in the world is he trying to SING?

  65. Posted by: Hypebeast on December 15, 2008 at 5:17 pm

Nah he’s amazing live, he’s just not used to singing live, yet.

  66. Posted by: sm on December 15, 2008 at 5:13 pm

that jacket is just beyond ugly.

  67. Posted by: ANUNAKI on December 15, 2008 at 5:04 pm

the thing is that he’s not not a good singer and he knows that too….he does’nt CARE!

  68. Posted by: LOL on December 15, 2008 at 5:03 pm

he sucks live. just as much as that ugly tiger sweater and that ugly crew neck with the tack writing on it. too bad people will like it.

leave this crap to the sale rack

  69. Posted by: sttn on December 15, 2008 at 5:01 pm

    errrr…..wow

  70. Posted by: 415 N8IVE on December 15, 2008 at 4:58 pm

Kanye sounds like shit live. I seen him last year and his voice sounded terrible. His rhymes are nice though

  71. Posted by: hypeman on December 15, 2008 at 4:54 pm

that tiger hoody is atrocious. looks like some ed hardy or artful dodger trash.

  72. Posted by: clayton on December 15, 2008 at 4:54 pm

I think the performance was prettty good, comparing to his other ones.
