If one word could be applied to the work of self-taught industrial designer Tom Dixon, “organic” would not be far off the mark. Enlightened in various fields without being traditionally educated, Dixon’s unadulterated perspective of the creative process exemplifies the thought that superlative work can arise with little or no previous knowledge on a given topic. In place of a degree or diploma, the Tunisia-born artist possesses an innate curiosity about the world around him, which has not been overlooked by his contemporaries. In 2013, Dixon debuted an inaugural watch design, minimally styled and named The Block Watch, while later in the year he joined forces with adidas Originals in creating a travel-ready collection of apparel, accessories and footwear for fall.
