JR has an affinity for awakening a sense of community with each project. Mainly branded as a photographer, this statement would merely be a half-truth as JR utilizes a much wider skill set, displaying tendencies of a graffiti artist in creating unique urban atmospheres with his prints. With philanthropy high on the agenda, JR kicked his “Inside Out” project into high gear in 2013; which was a worldwide exhibition of art at the core, open for any person to participate. Flipping his approach from pasting art himself, reportedly around 15,000 people in 10,000 cities around the world participated in the undertaking, pasting black and white portraits in spaces of their own choosing. This year, JR was also able to show at the Tribeca Film Festival, debuting his feature movie Inside Out: The People's Art Project in April.
