XLarge Japan Spring '08 Lookbook

The Japanese chapter of streetwear OG’s XLarge has updates its site with pictures from its Spring ‘08 photoshoot. Lots of color and a California feel as expected. From what we can see on the website, the line consist of light-weight flannels, striped polos, and denim that endorse the brand fully with large logos on the pockets and across the seat. Biking collective Wolfpack Hustle has extended their X-Hustle collection further with these upcoming products. Artist Yayoi Kusama’s trademark use of polka dots can be seen applied to this recent multi-brand project between XLarge, X-girl and Porter. Interestingly enough, much of Kusama’s inspirations and polka dot designs are derived from a series of hallucinations she experienced as a child which was spawned by physical abuse from her mother. The Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama was born on March 29, 1929. “Her work shows some attributes of feminism, minimalism, surrealism, Art Brut, pop art, and abstract expressionism, and is infused with autobiographical, psychological, and sexual content.” (Wikipedia) To commemorate the documentary film “≒ Yayoi Kusama: I love”, XLarge and X-girl has collaborated with Porter to create a set of Yayoi Kusama bags. Streetwear label XLarge has produced a new t-shirt in conjunction with Japanese magazine Samurai Magazine. Together, they have redesigned the signature XLarge pattern using a traditional argyle pattern often seen in golf wear. These tees are available at the Samurai webshop for 4,830 Yen.

A new hoodie has been released as part of the Afro Samurai x XLarge collection. The previous releases included a t-shirt featuring an Afro Samurai graphic and a figure.
