Description
Gildas Loaëc is the founder and owner of record and clothing label Maison Kitsuné. At age 19, Loaëc ran a record store in Paris alongside Masaya Kuroki -- among his customers were Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, better known as the members of Daft Punk, for whom Loaëc would become one of the house band’s early team members and with whom he would work with for 15 years. While Kuroki returned to Japan from Paris, the two reconnected some years later and bonded over a common want to form a brand bridging music, fashion and design.
The duo realized this vision by establishing Kitsuné, the electronic music record label, in 2002, as well as fashion label Maison Kitsuné with London-based company Abake, with Kuroki overseeing the fashion design. Loaëc still manages the global operations of Maison Kitsune’s record and clothing arms. The record label has signed some of electronic music’s biggest acts, such as Hot Chip, Bloc Party, Two Door Cinema Club and Simian Mobile Disco.
