ビヨンセ（Beyoncé）が、フィジカル音源のコレクションを飾りながら収納できる限定ボックス「ベイ・キーパー・コレクターズ・ボックス」の予約販売を開始した。これはビヨンセの45歳の誕生日と、アルバム『B’Day』のリリース20周年を記念したアイテム。しかし、音源が一切付属しないにもかかわらず948.01ドルという価格に、オンラインでは「ぼったくりだ」とするファンの声も上がっている。
価格の948.01ドルは、1981年9月4日という彼女の生年月日にちなんだもの。ハンドメイドの無垢パイン材を用いたボックスには蜜蝋オイルを施し、内側には深いグリーンのベルベットを張っている。伝統的な養蜂箱から着想を得たこの収納ボックスには、カスタム刻印のディテール、ゴールドの金具、クロコダイル調レザーのストラップをあしらった。
シリアルナンバー入りの全500点限定で、送料や税金を加えると最終的な支払額は1,100ドルを超える可能性もある。ラグジュアリーな価格帯ながら、あくまで収納用のボックスであり、レコードは1枚も付属しない。空の木箱にこれほどの価格を設定したことをめぐり、SNSでは多くのファンが疑問を投げかけている。
