Womenswear designer Simone Rocha enjoyed a fruitful 2018, delivering strong seasonal collections that developed upon her label’s feminist ethos by way of her own familial heritage. Rocha was also tapped by Moncler for the Italian label’s Genius line, first introduced in early 2018. The Irish designer introduced clever revisions of Moncler’s iconic puffer jacket, effortlessly blending the garment’s functional bent with Rocha’s inimitable style. Puffers were transformed into dresses, layered over tulle, reshaped into gloves and studded with flowers created from the same shiny material. These motifs carry over to Rocha’s next Genius release, which takes the floral motif to new heights — including floral makeup — and focuses even more on her delicately layered dresses, scarves and headwear. Fans include Chloë Sevigny, Rihanna, Chelsea Leyland and Alexa Chung.
