2017 has been a momentous year for Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s creative director, who has seen the Italian powerhouse of fashion flourish under his idiosyncratic guidance. Michele’s appointment in 2015 came as somewhat of a surprise and translated into instantaneous success — the house reported a first quarter revenue increase of 51% this March. Highlights of Michele’s year include the Le Marché des Merveilles watch collection, the MR PORTER capsule, the Angelica Hicks T-shirt collaboration, the vintage-inspired sweatbands and the Dapper Dan collaboration. That’s not to mention the acclaimed seasonal collections released throughout the calendar year.
