Porsche Tests Next-Gen 911 GT3 R in Spa Endurance Race
An upcoming customer race car slated to make its official debut this summer.
Porsche is preparing the next evolution of its 911 GT3 R with a key endurance test this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. Set to compete in the Michelin 12H Spa-Francorchamps on April 19–20, the upcoming customer race car will face real-world pressure during a split-format endurance event run by the Creventic 24H Series.
The No. 91 test car, developed in partnership with Herberth Motorsport, will be driven by Laurin Heinrich — reigning IMSA GTD Pro Champion — alongside seasoned endurance racers Ralf Bohn and Alfred Renauer. The trio will tackle Spa’s demanding layout across five hours of racing on Saturday and another seven on Sunday.
Porsche says this test offers valuable feedback from an experienced privateer team. “The competition level, track time, and tough circuit make it ideal,” said Sebastian Golz, Project Manager of the 911 GT3 R. Updates for the 2026-spec model include reworked aerodynamics to reduce pitch sensitivity, improved front-end behavior, software upgrades and refined steering.
The car is expected to debut publicly this summer, carrying the legacy of a model that has already earned wins across WEC, IMSA, DTM and Le Mans.
