Rage Against the Machine Frontman Zack de la Rocha Drops His First Solo Single
Featuring production by El-P.
While his bandmates may have linked up with Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Cypress Hill’s B-Real for their Prophets of Rage side project, Rage Against the Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha has emerged with his first proper solo single. Dubbed “digging for windows,” the thumping track features production from longtime collaborator El-P and exists as de la Rocha’s long awaited debut single — after RATM initially split up back in 2000, de la Rocha recorded tracks with everyone from Trent Reznor to Questlove, but ultimately scrapped a solo LP. In 2008 he dropped the self-titled One Day As A Lion EP alongside Jon Theodore, but has largely been quiet in the years since — 2014’s “Close Your Eyes (And Count to F**k)” collab with Run The Jewels being a notable exception. Best of all? “digging for windows” — which features Manuel Álvarez Bravo’s 1990 photo Fireworks for the Infant Jesus as its cover art — is the first single from an actual confirmed, coming-soon de la Rocha full-length.
