For this week’s installment of Essentials we cover New York’s B-Roc and JPatt or otherwise known collectively as The Knocks. With a musical career covering eight years, the pair are no novices to the electro-dance realms. Beginning their careers as roommates, B-Roc and JPatt were constant receivers of neighbor wall knocks and ceiling bangs; a result of paper thin walls and loud studio speakers. Despite so, The Knocks were graced with a name and have since treated us to countless remixes for the likes of Haim, Passion Pit, and Santigold as well as original music that have been a constant domination to dance-floors alike. Of course, such hits require the right equipment; of which include a favored Roland SH101 keyboard that ensure fresh results due to its lack of presets. To smooth over frequent touring, a basketball and Yashica T4 34MM camera allows for entertaining pastimes whilst wireless Bose headphones make for a comfortable, easy travel companion. Ensuring a crisp look, designer Andrea Dorai donned the guys with custom jackets and to round off, an honorary ode to electronic legends Daft Punk come in the form of two pretty cool Japanese figurines. Check out the details for their Essentials above and catch them on tour now with dates available here. They’re also looking to release their debut album later this year which will feature summer anthem “Classic” as well as their most recent single “Dancing With Myself.”
