Straying far away from the androgyny we’ve been seeing this fashion season is Umit Benan‘s fall/winter collection, a brand for rugged men looking for durable but still stylish clothing. For this collection, Benan took inspiration from the fishermen of the world — both those that travel the seas for months à la Deadliest Catch, and those sitting by a pier with a rod on a nice day. So of course the designer produced some pieces with strong semblance to that of raincoats and wading pants with nautical motifs strewn about, but that wasn’t all. Between each of the less practical pieces clad with fishing rods and buckets were outfits rooted in practicality — plaid double-breasted suits, handcrafted knits and blouson jackets, all looking ready to go ahoy.
