BLOCKS Futuristic Open Platform Modular Smartwatch

Having seen the fully customizable modular design platform being applied to the world of smartphones last year, BLOCKS takes this idea to the rapidly growing smartwatch industry with its recent unveiling at CES in Las Vegas. Powered by Intel, the device will be offered with either an e-ink or LCD display configuration, both of which can be modified with different hardware modules, including cameras, longer lasting batteries, gestural controls, fingerprint scanners, GPS, fitness trackers and so much more. According to BLOCKS, as new modules or technology becomes available, users will be able to replace each ‘block’ piece-by-piece, rather than having to replace the entire unit. Projected to run on an Android OS with Windows Phone support, BLOCKS is expected to officially introduce its finished product via Kickstarter later this year.
