When the curtains have drawn on arena competitions and the wells of large corporate sponsorships have dried, skateboarding is, ultimately, about fun. It requires, nay, encourages one to sum up courage and explore their surroundings – no matter the cracks in the pavement. Driving this home is Ricki Bedenbaugh‘s submission for the ongoing “REDirect” project from The Berrics and RED Cameras. The California-based videographer turned his lens away from record-breaking stunts to create a video piece highlighting the most fundamental of all tricks: the ability to keep pushing. For this, Bedenbaugh recruited some of the lifers of the game, including Ray Barbee, Salman Agah, and even Natas Kuapas, as well as young guns like Julian Davidson and Colin Provost. Of all the shots though, the last ripper drives the point home. Enjoy the video above.
