Pear Farmers Appreciate Rick Ross

No offence intended, but Rick Ross has always been known for his overweight stature — perhaps something that we’ve permanently associated the Bawse of the Untouchable Maybach Music Empire with. On a product branding level, such image is important. Health-wise, having good physical well-being takes precedence. Last month, Ross spoke on undertaking a healthier eating routine, and revealed that he’s been hitting up a lot of pears lately for their highly nutritional, low-caloric values. Since having given props to the nourishing fruit, the pear market has been greeted with an explosive presence on social media. USA Pears’ spokeswoman has the following to say on the rapper’s support:

“On behalf of our 1,600 pear growers from the Northwest region, we are pleased that Rick has mentioned the health benefits of pears,” Stephenson writes in an email to Modern Farmer, adding that pears provide 24 percent of the recommended daily intake of fiber, which helps curb an appetite. “Overall, we could not be more pleased with our message being delivered to a new, young and hip demographic.”
