With a rich city landscape quickly changing throughout New York due to various circumstances, photographic duo James and Karla Murray pay tribute to the culturally significant mom & pop retailers in New York City with their upcoming STORE FRONT photo exhibition. The overview of the exhibit is perhaps best summed up in this quote, “From cheerful Italian bakeries with hand-painted murals to the dingy dive bar that became a local institution, the Murrays’ bright photographs are a striking visual record of how colorful and idiosyncratic each block of New York’s streetscape once was.” Beyond this collection of photographs, James and Karla have also co-authored two books regarding NYC’s vibrant graffiti scene, “Broken Windows-Graffiti NYC” (Gingko Press 2002) and “Burning New York” (Gingko 2006). The exhibit will open Wednesday, July 15th from 6 pm – 9 pm at Clic Gallery.
