Vic Mensa Accused for Plagiarism on "U Mad" by French Rap Artist

Meek Mill isn’t the only rapper calling out other artists for allegedly releasing unoriginal work. Earlier, not long after Vic Mensa released his “Heir to the Throne” freestyle, French emcee Monsieur Ice took to Twitter to accuse the “U Mad” rapper for stealing his material for that track. When asked by a fan if Mensa borrowed the flow from Ice’s “Horus,” the artist replied: “dans l’impunité totale,” which means “he got away with it.” The FADER emailed Ice in request for further clarification of his claims and he shared: “I can’t say for a fact that ‘U Mad’ is based off of ‘Horus.’ But there are clear and evident similarities between the two songs!” Vic Mensa responded to the allegations dismissively, giving a brief (now deleted) “y’all are retarded” feedback to which Ice took offensively. He replies with:

“Vic Mensa’s ‘y’all are retarded’ answer is disrespectful from one artist to another. It was a clear lack of class on his behalf. I guess that’s the game. Personally speaking, I only discovered Vic Mensa when he performed ‘All Day’ at the BRIT Awards with Kanye, but he is a good artist. My EP Retro Super Love comes out this fall.”
