After following the exploits of Moroshi in Underground Hero: Love To Hate Me, director Luxe Huxham is back with another atmospheric documentary. Black Business: Modern Day Yakuza explores another unseen layer of Japan’s polite, intriguing and seemingly crime-free society through the voice of Shota. This cinematic interview, Huxham hopes, is just the beginning of what could expand into a much bigger project in the future. Beautifully shot in 4K, the short invites the viewer to rethink how they see organized crime at least in Japan, where Yakuza syndicates enjoy an unexpectedly high level of integration into society and in some cases, are even respected.
