About Group - All Is Not Lost

While Alexis Taylor‘s accolades are perhaps most recognized as a member of dance outfit Hot Chip, his latest endeavors in About Group — consisting of himself, John Coxon, Charles Hayward and Pat Thomas —  reveal an introverted side of the artist, leaning towards artistic sounds and imagery that further showcase Taylor’s affinity for all things eloquent. Here, the soulful vocals of Alexis Taylor soundtracks About Group’s new single “All Is Not Lost.” Courtesy of Swedish art director Henrik Håkansson from his own work “Aug. 11, 2012 Symptoms Of The Universe Studies (6min 29 Sec)”, the visuals to the sentimental single see black alder trees exploding in slow motion then in contrasting speeds, while butterflies facet the dramatic landscape elsewhere. On Håkansson’s work, Taylor says:

“I had seen his work before and liked the films of insects, flying or being squashed in slow motion. I thought he could make something beautiful..”
