Husband and wife duo Richard and Laurie Lynn Stark has had tremendous success with their rock ‘n roll-meets-biker culture-meets-workwear brand Chrome Hearts. The label has defied the conventional prim and pristine definition of luxury to create a mysterious world that channels punk’s rebellious and devil-may-cry attitudes.
The house has served a long list of celebrities since its inception in 1988. Personalities like LeBron James, Bella Hadid, Britney Spears, Quavo, Mick Jagger, Rihanna and more have been long-time shoppers of the brand. In August of this year, mega star rapper Drake debuted a custom Chrome Hearts basketball kit in his video for the song “Laugh Now, Cry Later.” The set consists of a black and white jersey top and shorts. The shirt is emblazoned with the brand’s logo at the front, signature cross insignia at the neck and the word “Loverboy” at the back which calls out the rapper’s upcoming 2021 album Certified Lover Boy.
Product wise, Chrome Hearts hardly announces any big drops or special releases. It’s all part of the house’s mysterious ethos which adds to its products exclusivity. It’s truly for those in-the-know and only the truest of fans will go to great lengths to find out when and where a certain item will drop. Chrome Hearts pieces are also mostly exclusive to its own stores due to the time and attention-to-detail it takes to make them. This is evident in the custom furniture, clothing and leather goods the LA-based label offer.
This year, Richard and Laurie Lynn Stark stayed consistent with their jewelry designs — rings, bracelets, necklaces and pins have been a constant staple for the brand every season. 2020, however, brought out some cool selections from its “oddities” line too — plungers, nail polish marshmallow skewers were some just a few of the “odd” products to come out from the label.
