Amina Muaddi has made a name for herself in footwear with her daringly cool strappy sandals and colorful pumps. Last year, mega pop-star Rihanna tapped the creative to design for her FENTY line after Muaddi won Footwear News’ Footwear Designer of the Year Award (also known as the shoe Oscars). Since the announcement of the partnership, Muaddi’s stock in the industry rose with more fans excited for her designs and brands looking to work alongside her.

This year, Muaddi kept the buzz for her label going when she dropped some statement pieces with renowned retailer MYTHERESA. The collaborative capsule consisted of her signature strappy sandals, transparent-heeled pumps, some jeweled designs and a few metallic options. Muaddi also continued her work with FENTY as she dropped a second set of styles with Rihanna. Corset-inspired silhouettes and square-toed creations for a more avant-garde touch were included in the range.

At the end of October, Muaddi received top honors once more with Footwear News. She nabbed the Collaborator of the Year prize at the 2020 FN Achievement Awards for her work with FENTY and Rihanna. Expansion was also part of Muaddi’s 2020 — on top of her shoe releases, the designer also launched bags and jewelry under her eponymous label.
