Stone Island is using a special method that the brand calls “MANUAL FLOCKING ON NYLON METAL GRID-OVD,” the styles are grounded in experimental fabrics that combine the brand’s signature iridescent look with a new flocking technique. As detailed in the original exhibition, each piece is constructed of Stone Island’s “Nylon Metal” material and then sprayed with a water-based adhesive before being exposed to the cotton flock. The jacket then gets double-dyed to finish it off with a colorful, saturated shell.
After going through the process, each item is expected to come out with a different variation of the treatment, making every garment unique. Watch how it all goes down in the video above.
A limited run of 100 parkas will be available starting May 23 at 3 p.m. GMT at Stone Island’s webstore, as well as its mobile app for U.S. and Canada consumers.
