YouTube has been slowly rolling out updates over the last few months with more expected to come throughout the rest of the year. The platform’s mobile app will be receiving a slew of new features too including a new clean design that moves the navigation tabs to the bottom of the screen as well as two new tabs called Library and Account. Videos can be swiped left and right to view the last or next, respectively, and videos that can be displayed natively either vertical, square or horizontally.

Looking beyond the app, YouTube has also developed a new desktop design with a dark theme feature that turns the background darker while you watch for a more cinematic look. The YouTube logo and YouTube icon have also been updated. The logo combines a cleaned up version of the YouTube wordmark and icon, creating a more flexible design that works better across a variety of devices, even on the tiniest screens. You’ll see the new logo and icon roll out across mobile and desktop today, and across all our other apps and services soon.
