Common: "I Like Drake’s Music"

In a conversation with Rolling Stone, Common stated that in spite of an ongoing lyrical feud between himself and Drake, he’s quite happy to admit that he respects the Toronto native’s artistic ability. “I think he makes good music” the rapper/actor stated, “He’s definitely said some real clever things and made some cool songs. I like his music.”
The quarrel between the pair initially started out with subliminal references during live performances and on Common’s track, “Sweet.” Eventually peaking with Drake throwing down the gauntlet on the original version of Rick Ross’s “Stay Schemin” track, and Common coming back with a dynamic unofficial remix – mockingly referring to Drizzy as “Canada Dry.”
But it seems that the Chicago native has turned a corner regarding the ongoing saga, stating the following revelations on the matter.
“I don’t think I had anything to prove.. I just felt like somebody stepped and challenged me, so I had to step into the ring. He said some things that I thought were directed at me, so I had to address it back.”
“I feel like I said what I had to say, and I’m just going to let it be at that point… Now, if something else happens, then I’ll just have to act accordingly. But right now, I feel like, man, I said what I needed to say about this situation on record.”
“It’s nothing like, ‘Oh man, it’s so personal.’ It’s just the art of rhyming, man. The art of rhyming!”
At this point, we can only wonder what’s next in hip-hop’s latest high-profile rivalry. Perhaps a Jay-Z & Nas-style reconciliation, followed by a collaborative album?
