Accounting for the first-ever hip-hop recording to be inducted into the illustrious Grammy Hall of Fame, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five’s iconic record “The Message” is one of 25 pieces recently selected to obtain the honor. The title track is notched as one of the most influential within hip-hop music, as it was featured on the group’s debut solo album in 1982. Neil Portnow, President and CEO of The Recording Academy, had this to say in regards to the noteworthy nomination:
