With a penchant for delving deep into the media’s infatuation with war and disaster, Jon Kessler brings his video and installation flare to the Deitch Projects in a March exhibition. Upon entering the fabricated world of Kessler’s Circus, he aims to engulf the participant in “a sense of vertigo and a surge of paranoia” as people see their very own faces displayed on the TV monitors. Overall the installation aims to touch on “the business of death as mediated spectacle exposes anxieties and complacencies concerning surveillance, propaganda, and our ravenous consumption of celebrity.” Kessler’s Circus begins March 7th and runs till April 4th.
