Since 1917 to the present day, Converse has witnessed numerous cultural revolutions. From the popularity of Negro League teams in the 20s and 30s to being a mainstay in the Rock & Roll and basketball scene, Converse has held down a solid presence across various arenas. More then 30 years ago, basketball received a boost to free itself from its then stagnation. Short shorts, knee high socks, big hair and the Converse Pro Leather would become a uniform for style and innovation on the courts. To commemorate the Pro Leather’s place in basketball and Converse history, the brand has reissued a perfect 1976 replica of the original in five different styles in low and high top versions. Alongside the sneakers are a pack of complimentary items including the aforementioned knee high socks, sunglasses and vintage wash t-shirt.

Two colors are available and should release at select FL dealers including the FL Shop.
At some point after Sonic Youth (or maybe for this generation it’s Nirvana) albums impacted budding musicians, indie rockers saw it fit completely mandatory to fill their music with melody hidden by shrill guitar feedback and ambiguous lyrics. The protopunk influences of The Stooges combined with the avant-garde compositions from the likes of John Cale has given the indie movement a distinct and instantly recognizable sound. However, someone failed to give the Brooklyn based indie rock band Grizzly Bear the memo.
Since their 2004 freshman release “House of Plenty” has effortlessly combined lo-fi recording techniques with experimental acid folk rock and a dash of neo-psychedelia. The vocal harmonies are almost ethereal with all members lending their vocal talent which makes the band virtually sound like The Beach Boys with an indie attitude. The Grizzly Bear’s new single “While You Wait for the Others” is an excellently constructed psychedelic folk pop song that begins as a whisper and builds up to a harmonizing sing along backed by acoustic guitars and softly played keyboard. The attention to tempo, lyrics, momentum and detail on this song in particular and in Grizzly Bear’s entire (albeit small) catalogue in general is almost unparallel in indie rock at the moment.

One of New York’s leading sneaker institutions, Rivington Club has had the benefit of numerous collaborations with various storied athletic brands. In their most recent team-up with Lacoste, ARC brings forth another dimension of the brands identity with a strong choice of colors and recognizable graphics. The well-traveled Lacoste polo and 1980s tennis classic Ardeur became a template for ARC to instill their brand aesthetics. The goal of designing each piece was to stay in line with sporting apparel which features many visual cues necessary on the field. The polos itself are beefed up similar to rugby shirts and feature 158, an homage to the store’s address at 158 Rivington St. in New York as well as the legendary Lacoste crocodile logo. This capsule is slated for a July release at fine retailers including Rivington Club in NYC, Barney’s NYC, Colette, Dover Street Market and Dieci Corso Como.
