Sneaker Con 2011 held court in the hip and chic bohemian underbelly of downtown NYC today. Vendors, kids and collectors alike, sojourned to Sullivan Street to partake in a buy/sell/trade amalgamation of sneakers. The barrier to entry was steep by way of a three-city block lineup of sneaker freakers vying for limited space within the venue. Enthusiasts compared sneaker heat and talked shop on the line, but once inside, kicks commerce took over. Well-known shops and independents alike manned crisply-stocked booths and showcased their wares from deadstock Jordans to independent clothing brands. The life force behind Sneaker Con however is the hand-to-hand sneaker trafficking that takes place on the showroom floor. Kicks were piled high in every nook and cranny of the venue, and many patrons held their prized sneaker possessions high above their head shouting a title, size and asking price. This was the most well-attended Sneaker Con on record, proving that the market for high profile and aftermarket kicks is here to stay for the time being.
