全米オープン女子シングルスで予選から勝ち上がった18歳のエマ・ラドゥカヌが初優勝

9月11日（現地時間）に行われた全米オープンの女子シングルス決勝で、予選から勝ち上がった18歳のEmma Raducanu（エマ・ラドゥカヌ）が19歳のLeylah Fernandez（レイラ・フェルナンデス）を6-4、6-3で破り、初優勝を飾った。

世界ランク150位であったRaducanuは、「東京2020オリンピック」の女子シングルス金メダリスト Belinda Bencic（ベリンダ・ベンリッチ）や準々決勝出場者のMaria Sakkari（マリア・サカリ）にストレート勝ちし、決勝でLeylah Fernandezと対決。7試合全て1セットも落とさずにトップに立った。10代同士の決勝は実に22年ぶりとなる。
