Cecilie Bahnsen’s designs are the epitome of elegance and romance. Her proclivity for ethereal fabrics, billowy silhouettes and Scandinavian-inspired couture has made her a go-to name for minimalist dresses that make a statement. Already a rising star in Denmark’s fashion scene, Bahnsen has won the country’s prestigious Magasin du Nord Fashion Prize not once, but twice. She nabbed honors for the second time just this November which came just a few months after she debuted her Paris Fashion Week presentation virtually.
Bahnsen graduated in 2010 from the Royal College of Art in London, then worked at Erdem for four years. As she learned the business side of the trade, she trusted her instincts and launched her eponymous collection in London in 2015. Now in her fifth year, Bahnsen has built a strong following in the industry — MATCHESFASHION, LUISAVIAROMA and Bergdorf Goodmans are just some of the global retailers that carry her seasonal designs. While her ultra-feminine creations are inspired by Danish culture, Bahnsen considers her label as a house with international influences. She collaborated with Scotish coat brand Mackintosh and Spanish footwear label Hereu for her SS21 collection. Bahnsen creates sustainable pieces as well which include some of the jackets and dresses she offers in her latest range.
With multiple fashion awards won, collaborations with top global brands and a growing focus on sustainability, Bahnsen ticks all the boxes of what it takes to be the next big name in fashion. She’s been a popular fixture in Copenhagen’s fashion weeks and it would be exciting to see her works reach the Paris stage soon. There’s no doubt that Bahnsen will capture global acclaim. The momentum has already started with her ever growing stocklist and international press coverage.
