Despite all that happened in 2017, one of the most shocking pieces of fashion news came when reports that Céline creative director Phoebe Philo was slated to make her exit from the label. With rumors of her departure swirling every year, many were not sure if the reports were true. But after learning that LVMH was already interviewing designers to replace Philo, it seems that the storied designer’s leave is indeed imminent. Since joining Céline in 2008, Philo reinvigorated the transition of the label into one of the best performing womenswear houses in fashion in recent years. Led by the Central Saint Martins graduate’s minimalist designs, Céline has become known for both its iconic bags and inspirational garment ranges. Although there is no official word on Philo’s next move, industry insiders predict she may take up post at the soon to be vacant slot at Burberry.
