The reveal leans on the set's illustration rares and special illustration rares, spotlighting the artwork as much as the Pokémon themselves ahead of the anniversary release. The daytime half leans into bright, sunlit scenes. Salamence ex is shown roaming clear skies, while an Alolan Exeggutor and an electrified Morpeko round out the sun-soaked cast. The returning Kanto legendary trio of Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres appears here as well, alongside Sylveon and Fuecoco, giving the day side a mix of nostalgic heavy-hitters and newer faces. The night side flips the mood toward after-dark energy. Gholdengo takes the spotlight mid-dance, a group of Scraggy plays up a tougher look, and Jirachi ex anchors the set with a cosmic tilt.
The Nintendo Switch 2 ‘The Legend of Zelda’ 40th Anniversary Edition Gives the Console a Gilded Triforce Makeover

Summary

Nintendo is releasing a 'Legend of Zelda' 40th Anniversary Edition of the Switch 2, decked out in series-inspired design across the system, dock and controllersThe black-and-gold dock carries a golden Triforce on the front, while the included Joy-Con 2 controllers arrive in classic green and goldA matching Pro Controller and carrying case, both featuring a Triforce design, launch the same day

The Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition gives Nintendo's console a full Zelda makeover, wrapping the system, dock and Joy-Con 2 in design cues pulled from the series. Built to mark four decades of the franchise, the special edition keeps the standard Switch 2 hardware intact while reworking nearly every visible surface around the Triforce.Finished in black and gold, it places the golden symbol of the Triforce on the front, surrounded by decorations inspired by the Legend of Zelda game series across its surface. That theming carries around the hardware: patterns and symbols drawn from the series decorate the back of both the system and the dock, turning the console's exterior into a running tribute rather than a single logo drop. The included Joy-Con 2 pair arrives in the classic green and gold long associated with the series, finished with the same series-inspired detailing seen elsewhere on the hardware. One important note for buyers: the console does not include a game, positioning this as a collector's finish on the base system rather than a bundle.Under the theming, this is a standard Switch 2. Games run on the vivid 7.9-inch 1080p screen that showcases the system's processing and graphics performance, and connecting to a compatible TV through the included dock allows compatible games to play at up to 4K resolution. It plays the system's exclusive titles as well as compatible games from the existing Nintendo Switch library, so the anniversary edition trades on its appearance without giving up any of the console's core capability. Rounding out the release, a matching Pro Controller, offered with and without a display stand, and a carrying case with screen protector all arrive on the same day carrying the same Triforce design. The Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition releases October 29 via Nintendo, with a matching Triforce-themed Pro Controller and carrying case arriving the same day.

Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast

‘The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’ Nintendo Switch 2 Remake Receives a November 2026 Release Date

Summary

Nintendo revealed a full Nintendo Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time during its 40th Anniversary Direct, with series producer Eiji Aonuma showing the first gameplayThe remake rebuilds Link's 1998 adventure with completely overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes, expanded character dialogue, a symphonic orchestral score and reworked camera and movement controlsThe first print run of the physical version arrives in special packaging with textured foil cover art while supplies last

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is being reborn on the Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo used its 40th Anniversary Direct to give the remake its first proper showing. Series producer Eiji Aonuma presented the debut gameplay and confirmed a November 5 launch, setting a firm date for one of the most consequential titles the series has ever produced. When Ocarina of Time first arrived on the Nintendo 64 in 1998, it reset expectations for what an action-adventure game could be, translating Hyrule into 3D and establishing conventions that a generation of games would go on to borrow. Nintendo's own framing leans on that weight, describing the title as Link's milestone 1998 adventure now reborn for a whole new era. This is not a light touch-up but a comprehensive rebuild aimed at carrying a 27-year-old classic onto current hardware.Nintendo has given the game completely overhauled visuals and paired them with fully voiced cutscenes, a first-time addition for a title that originally told its story through text. Character dialogue has been expanded, and the score has been rerecorded as symphonic orchestral music, trading the N64 era's compressed audio for a fuller arrangement. Under the hood, the camera and movement controls have been reworked, addressing the areas where the original's late-90s design shows its age most. For the drop itself, Nintendo is treating the physical release as a collector's moment. The first print run commemorates the launch with special packaging built around textured foil cover art, available while supplies last, giving early buyers a reason to move quickly rather than wait on a digital copy. Coming out of the 40th Anniversary Direct, the remake stands as the clearest statement yet of how Nintendo intends to honor the game that arguably set the modern Zelda template. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches November 5 on the Nintendo Switch 2, with the first print run of the physical version featuring textured foil cover art while supplies last.

Read more at Hypebeast

Anbernic Reveals the RG DS Plus, a Dual-Screen Handheld Built for Nintendo DS Emulation Under $100 USD

Summary

Anbernic expands its retro gaming lineup with a larger dual-screen handheld engineered for authentic Nintendo DS emulationThe device transitions to a Linux operating system powered by the new NNDSS emulator featuring robust touch and microphone integrationHardware updates include an integrated capacitive stylus, a stepless dual alloy hinge and a strategic RAM adjustment to support GammaOS

Shenzhen-based hardware manufacturer Anbernic officially announced the Anbernic RG DS Plus, a dual-screen handheld gaming console inspired by the classic Nintendo DS. Arriving with a footprint larger than the original non-Plus model, this updated release is tailored for emulation. The device natively integrates a dual-screen setup alongside an integrated capacitive stylus and a built-in microphone to cater to the retro gaming community. This approach bridges a physical gap in portable emulation by addressing the hardware requirements necessary for legacy Nintendo DS titles.Front and center on the Anbernic RG DS Plus are its twin displays. Both screens measure 4.3 inches and deliver a 1024×768 resolution backed by 4x pixel-perfect scaling. The lower second display operates using a touch-based interface for the included stylus. Connecting these two panels is an upgraded dual alloy hinge. Built for a long lifespan, this hinge mechanism allows for stepless positioning to ensure optimal viewing angles. Physical inputs include four digital shoulder buttons and an analog stick. The handheld is also equipped with dual USB-C ports, dual microSD card slots, a headphone jack and front-facing speakers.A Linux operating system powers the handheld, shifting away from the Android OS used on its predecessor. This software foundation relies on a newly developed dual-screen emulator called NNDSS. The NNDSS emulator natively supports microphone input, allowing players to use the built-in mic for gameplay mechanics. Specialized software delivers screen swapping, an instant save feature and a real-time clock. Players can also customize visual output by cycling through 76 built-in shader options.Internal architecture makes trade-offs to balance community-driven software with affordability. The device is powered by the Rockchip RK3568 chipset, a processor unchanged from the previous version. The system features 1GB of RAM, representing a deliberate downgrade from the previous model's 3GB. This adjustment is the result of a collaboration with @TheGammaSqueeze to port GammaOS to the platform. To maintain the price point of the earlier model, Anbernic removed the built-in eMMC memory.Enthusiast-grade features arrive in a highly accessible tier. Anbernic offers the Anbernic RG DS Plus in three distinct color options: Metallic Blue, Matte Black and Coral Pink. While an official release date is not yet announced, the console will be priced below $100. Early adopters will have an introductory price of around $90 USD available during the first 72 hours of the launch.

Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast

Jin Sakai Returns as a Playable Fighter in ‘Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted’

Sucker Punch has revealed that the Ghost of Tsushima protagonist joins Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted as a playable character, carrying over all four of his signature combat stances. Shown during the September 3 State of Play, his return anchors a brand-new roguelike mode landing inside Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition on October 1.Sucker Punch built Jin’s return as a faithful bridge between games. The team took his Ghost of Tsushima model and preserved it while applying upgrades for Ghost of Yōtei, keeping all four of the original stances so players can once again shift between them to exploit enemy weaknesses. He starts with a Sticky Bomb and a hankyu, and his kit leans on returning signatures: his Ultimate is the "Dance of Wrath" skill that targets and disarms multiple enemies, while his Kill Streak is, fittingly, Ghost Stance, letting him terrify nearby foes and cut down a limited number in single hits. The nod runs deep, given that Jin headlined Sucker Punch's 2020 predecessor before Atsu took over the Ghost mantle in Ezo.Around him sits the structure of Most Wanted itself, pitched as the studio's spin on the roguelike. Runs begin at a bounty board, where each target is a member of the Yōtei Six, reached only by clearing waves of enemies and minibosses. Finishing waves unlocks perks that shape an increasingly powerful build toward the bounty's final boss, and cleared bounties can be replayed at higher difficulty, culminating in the toughest run against Lord Saito. Between runs, players spend earned Mon on techniques, weapon upgrades, charms, and character unlocks, and any cosmetics earned carry back into the main game. Perks are framed as the real engine of the mode, with frequent choices spanning weapon mastery, gear loadouts, summons, parries, and survivability that reward experimentation. The default fighter is Atsu, who wields dual katana and two Ghost Tools, with a "Call of the Pack" Ultimate that summons wolves. Oyuki fights with the kusarigama, kunai, and tanegashima rifle, backed by a "Shadow Killer" Ultimate. Nagato covers distance with a yari, tanzutsu pistol, and both long and short bows, and his "Gambler's Mark" Ultimate fires guaranteed headshots. Each character opens with a katana plus their own weapons, abilities, Ultimates, and Kill Streaks, encouraging players to test every approach. The same release also expands the story through Echoes of Sekigahara. The expansion splits between two chapters of Atsu's life, her time on the mainland during the massive Battle of Sekigahara and the present day, filling in her history with Nagato. In the present, Nagato reaches Ezo hunted by the Vipers, a group of vicious poachers loyal to the Snake and left leaderless after his death, who have overrun the previously unseen Ashoro Foothills. Atsu reluctantly teams with Nagato to recover a captured ally, encountering new enemy types, heavy weapons, mythic tales, abilities, and armor along the way. Both drops mark a milestone, arriving as Ghost of Yōtei reaches its one-year anniversary. They headline the Complete Edition, which bundles the original game, the Legends co-op mode, and previously released Digital Deluxe content, while a free October 1 patch hands all existing owners extras including the new Beauty of Yōtei photo mode, fresh Watanabe Mode tracks, and a high-contrast accessibility option.Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted and Echoes of Sekigahara launch October 1 as part of Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition, with existing owners able to pre-order the upgrade now and pre-orders by September 30 unlocking early access to the Sakai Armor for Atsu.

Read more at Hypebeast

Revelation opens the planet into a genuinely borderless world, letting players roam every corner aboard the series' iconic Highwind airship. Traversal gets its own companion in Piko, a Chocobo that grows alongside the party and picks up new movement and combat abilities over time, while a new grappling gun lets characters scale rooftops and zip through the environment at speed.Combat builds on the hybrid system the trilogy is known for, now reshaped by the new FITS system. FITS grants abilities and higher tiers of power through specialized roles, including Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner, with the extended footage showing new playable character Cid in the Knight FITS and returning fan favorite Vincent in the Summoner FITS. Beyond the two additions to the roster, players can freely swap their active character and rework the party at any point during exploration, and can steer the narrative by choosing which members take on specific quests, changing how certain events play out.All of that flexibility feeds into a story pitched as the end of the line. Cloud Strife and his companions face a world on the edge of annihilation, grieving a fallen ally as Sephiroth closes in on godhood. The party takes to the skies aboard the Highwind in a race to stop Meteor, the ultimate destructive magic, before it wipes out the planet entirely. The finale also caps a trilogy that arrived with heavy expectations and largely met them. The first two entries, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, drew wide acclaim, together collecting more than 140 perfect review scores along with Game of the Year recognition. For newcomers or lapsed fans, both remain available with a Streamlined Progression option, offering tweaks like unlimited HP and MP and an always-full ATB gauge to ease the catch-up, and save data from either game unlocks bonus summons and weapon skins in Revelation.Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches April 8, 2027 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with physical and digital pre-orders open now (digital Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders to follow) at global retailers and the Square Enix Store.

Read more at Hypebeast

PlayStation Unveils Two ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ DualSense Controllers That Shimmer Like a Vice City Sunset

Split into a Black Limited Edition and a White Limited Edition, both pull the look of Vice City, the fictional heart of Leonida, straight onto the hardware ahead of the game's November 19 release. Each controller carries a shimmering, color-shifting finish that blends the warm tones of a Vice City sunset with the glow of neon, so the surface reads differently depending on the light. Custom palm tree details are molded directly into the body, adding a tactile texture that sits alongside official Grand Theft Auto VI branding. It is a finish built to move rather than sit flat, which suits a setting defined equally by sun-soaked coastline and after-dark energy. From there, the two editions pull in opposite directions. The White Limited Edition leans into Vice City at daybreak, drawing on white sand, pastel skies and a laid-back sense of glamour. The Black Limited Edition takes the other half of the day, channeling the charge of the city's nightlife into a darker treatment. Together they function as a matched day-and-night pair rather than two versions of the same idea.Beyond the surface, these remain full-featured DualSense units. In Grand Theft Auto VI, the controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers respond to the on-screen action with dynamic resistance, pushing the sights, sounds and physical sensations of the game into the player's hands. That functional layer is central to how Sony has positioned the tie-in, framing the controllers as part of the argument that the game plays best on PS5 when it lands November 19.The White edition will be offered in limited quantities globally through PlayStation and participating retailers, while the Black edition runs exclusively through PlayStation where available, reaching other regions via select retailers. Both limited-edition DualSense controllers launch November 19, with pre-orders opening September 10 at 10:00 a.m. local time via PlayStation in limited quantities.

Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast

Acer's Predator Project DualPlay Mini Is a Gaming Handheld That Opens Into a Laptop

Summary

Acer has revealed the Predator Project DualPlay Mini, a 2-in-1 gaming handheld that converts into a laptop-style deviceThe design flips open to expose a built-in keyboard, letting it double as a productivity machine and support keyboard-and-mouse playIt runs Intel Arc G3 Extreme graphics and uses Predator's AeroBlade cooling to sustain performance during long sessions

Acer's Predator Project DualPlay Mini rethinks what a gaming handheld can be, folding a full keyboard into a device built around handheld controls. Billed as a first-of-its-kind convertible, it flips between a traditional grip-and-play layout and a laptop-style setup, positioning itself as a hybrid rather than a single-purpose portable. In its closed configuration, the DualPlay Mini behaves like a standard handheld, with familiar controls flanking the screen for on-the-go play. Flip it open and a built-in keyboard appears, turning the same unit into something closer to a compact laptop for email, documents and everyday tasks. The pitch is that one device covers both play and work without a user ever reaching for a second machine. That convertible layout also reshapes how games get played. Pairing the built-in keyboard with a Bluetooth mouse, sold separately, opens the door to a proper keyboard-and-mouse configuration, the setup competitive first-person shooter players tend to prefer over thumbsticks. It is a meaningful distinction in a category where nearly every rival locks players into gamepad-style controls, and it speaks to who Acer sees reaching for this thing. On the hardware side, the machine leans on Intel Arc G3 Extreme graphics to drive its gaming performance. Keeping that silicon in check is Predator's AeroBlade cooling, which combines ultra-thin metal fan blades with what Acer calls Vortex Flow to push airflow up to 10 percent higher than a comparable plastic fan, a design aimed at holding steady output across extended sessions. Acer has kept broader specifications, including processor, display and battery details, under wraps for now.The bigger context is a handheld PC market that has grown fiercely competitive since Valve's Steam Deck reframed the category, with ASUS, Lenovo and others crowding in soon after. Rather than compete purely on raw power, Acer is betting on form factor, using the 2-in-1 concept to carve out a lane the current field has largely left open. As a named "Project," the DualPlay Mini reads as a look at where Predator's handheld thinking is heading, with the company cautioning that the final product may differ from what it is showing now.

Read more at Hypebeast

Xbox's New Disc-to-Digital Feature Is Working on Delisted Games

Summary

Microsoft Insiders discovered the newly launched Xbox Disc-to-Digital tool successfully digitizes heavily sought-after delisted titlesThe feature allows players to convert physical discs on Xbox One or Xbox Series X into digital copies playable across compatible devicesWhile blockbuster tie-ins and music games are working, Microsoft has not confirmed if this workaround is intentional

Microsoft inadvertently supports video game preservation. The company officially announced the Xbox Disc-to-Digital program on August 26. This initiative formally opened to Microsoft Insiders on August 31 and added a requested feature to the ecosystem. Users quickly discovered a major loophole within the first 24 hours of the Insider launch. Digitization is possible for many physical games previously delisted from the Xbox storefront. The mechanics are straightforward but shift how players interact with legacy libraries. This program allows users to insert a physical game disc into an Xbox One or Xbox Series X console to add a digital version to their active account. Owners can then boot up the digitized games on other Xbox-compatible devices, such as a PC, without needing the physical disc. A rare workaround now exists for keeping media alive. Physical games typically disappear when delisted from online storefronts, which often happens when publishers lose rights to songs or franchise licenses. Preservation of these titles is possible through the Xbox Disc-to-Digital feature if users still own the physical disc. The community immediately tested the feature and uncovered a list of working titles. According to X user Nicholas Maguire, the tool digitizes the 2013 Xbox One game Deadpool, which was delisted in late 2017. Franchise tie-in games are seeing a revival, as social media reports indicate that G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, Star Trek: Prodigy and Transformers: Devastation all work. On Reddit, user Rarefroggy123 compiled a thread of functional titles including Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) and FIFA 15. Compatibility lists include Ghostbusters, Halo: Campaign Evolved, Madden NFL 23, Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, NHL 17 and Rare Replay.Titles plagued by expired licensing rights benefit from the new feature. X user Storm360 found that the tool works with various delisted music titles, such as Avicii Invector and games from the Let's Sing, Now That's What I Call Sing and The Voice franchises. Another user confirmed that the 2015 rhythm game Rock Band 4 successfully digitizes. Even discontinued projects survive the digital jump. Lego Dimensions, which was discontinued in 2017, works through the tool, though players still need the USB-connected Toy Pad to add physical minifigures. The tool is not a universal fix despite the vault of functional software. Selected titles that do not work with the Xbox Disc-to-Digital program include Dead Rising 3, Destiny, Ryse: Son of Rome, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Titanfall. Users have also reported that various Ubisoft games and unspecified delisted Sega titles are currently incompatible. Microsoft hasn't confirmed whether the compatibility with delisted games is intentional. Future updates may add more titles to the program according to previous company statements.

Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast

Razer Launches the Prio, a Foldable Mobile Gaming Controller Designed To Fit in Your Pocket

This foldable and ultra-portable device is engineered to remain pocket-friendly when not in active use. The brand markets the accessory as a tool that "turns delay into play," allowing users to pull console-grade controls from their pockets during slow moments in waiting rooms or on a daily commute. Strategic hardware shifts often follow such announcements, and Razer confirmed that the Prio is the first entry in an entirely new line of ultra-portable mobile gaming controllers.Despite its minimized and foldable footprint, the Razer Prio does not compromise on tactical hardware. The gamepad features a comprehensive layout that includes a tactile 4-way D-pad, standard face buttons, bumpers and triggers. Moving past standard inputs, the device is equipped with capacitive analog thumbsticks that Razer states are specifically engineered to reduce stick drift and maintain precision. Because the controller attaches to mobile devices exclusively through a direct USB-C connection, it lacks an internal battery and requires no charging. This design choice keeps the unit lightweight and ready for action whenever it is plugged directly into a handset. The versatility of the Razer Prio extends into its broad compatibility across modern digital ecosystems. It works with both iOS and Android smartphones, expanding to support screens up to seven inches in size. This ensures the controller can comfortably secure large flagship devices like the iPhone 17 Pro Max or the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. Furthermore, the unit is designed to fit most slim-to-medium phone cases, eliminating the need to remove a case just to play. By bridging the gap between heavy-duty console inputs and pocketable convenience, the release positions high-fidelity gaming as a frictionless daily habit. Once connected, the hardware integrates with native games across all mobile platforms while supporting streaming services including Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam Link, PS Remote Play and Razer's own PC Remote Play. The Razer Prio is available for purchase now at a starting price of $99.99.

Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast

SteelSeries Adds "Matcha" and "Yuzu" Arctis GameBuds Colors With Upgraded Firmware

Summary

SteelSeries has expanded its Arctis GameBuds earbuds with two new colorways, Matcha and Yuzu, as part of a Cozy Collection tie-in with sister brand KontrolFreekThe buds deliver ultra-low-latency 2.4 GHz wireless audio across Xbox, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC, with a 2026 firmware update improving connection stabilityKontrolFreek rounds out the set with color-matched No-Slip Performance Thumb Grips built for a universal controller fit

SteelSeries has grown its Arctis GameBuds lineup with two new finishes, Matcha and Yuzu, but the more consequential news for existing owners is what is happening under the hood. Alongside the fresh colors, the earbuds carry an updated 2026 firmware package aimed at squeezing more stability out of their wireless connection. The core of the GameBuds proposition is low-latency wireless across the console spectrum. The earbuds run on a 2.4 GHz connection tuned for ultra-low latency on Xbox and PS5, while spanning Nintendo Switch and PC as well, so the same set carries over from a gaming session to music, video or calls without a hardware swap. SteelSeries positions them as a single audio solution for high-quality sound across every platform a player might jump between, backed by all-day battery life. The update delivers increased power for a more rock-solid connection and introduces listen-before-talk (LBT), a channel-selection method that scans for a clear frequency before transmitting to sidestep wireless interference. In practice, that means the buds can route around congestion in busy signal environments rather than fighting through it. Importantly, the update is not limited to the new Matcha and Yuzu units; SteelSeries is rolling it out across all GameBuds models, so the connectivity gains reach the existing install base too.The accessory half of the Cozy Collection comes from KontrolFreek, the SteelSeries sister brand behind Performance Gaming Gear. Its No-Slip Performance Thumb Grips arrive in the same Matcha and Yuzu tones to pair with the buds, and on the functional side they are engineered to add grip, comfort and control at the stick. The grips carry a universal fit across Xbox, PlayStation and Switch Pro controllers, keeping them compatible with the same console range the GameBuds cover. The Matcha and Yuzu Arctis GameBuds are available now, starting September 1 via SteelSeries and retailers worldwide, while the matching KontrolFreek No-Slip Performance Thumb Grips are available online.

Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast

Analysts Estimate 'GTA VI's' Budget Exceeds $1 Billion USD, Making It the Costliest Entertainment Product Ever

Summary

Grand Theft Auto VI is projected to be the most expensive entertainment production in history, with analyst estimates placing the development budget between $1 billion and $1.5 billionRockstar North co-head Aaron Garbut revealed the title features over 600,000 unique animations, facilitated by a dedicated Los Angeles team focused on hand-crafting individual NPCsFollowing multiple delays, the game is officially scheduled for a November 19, 2026 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S amid ongoing legal claims regarding alleged union busting

Grand Theft Auto VI looks set to become the most expensive entertainment product ever created. Rockstar Games has not publicly disclosed the exact financial investment, but industry analysts peg the estimated budget at well over $1 billion USD. Some current estimates place the figure closer to $1.5 billion USD. This massive financial commitment outpaces the known budgets of major Hollywood theatrical releases and sets a new benchmark for AAA game development. To contextualize this scale, recent court documents revealed that Sony Interactive Entertainment spent $212 million USD on Horizon Forbidden West and $220 million USD on The Last of Us: Part II, while Activision invested roughly $700 million USD into Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War over its life cycle.A billion-dollar budget stems directly from the modern realities of game development and a production schedule spanning nearly a decade. Creating an expansive open-world environment requires vast teams of actors, writers, programmers, animators, designers and composers. Rockstar established a specialized Los Angeles-based team specifically to art-direct every individual non-player character. Studio co-head Aaron Garbut noted in a recent interview that this technical ambition pushed the in-game animation count to 600,000. That figure dwarfs the 55,000 animations found in Grand Theft Auto V and doubles the 300,000 implemented in Red Dead Redemption 2.Publishers Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar are willing to risk unprecedented sums because the potential return on investment remains unparalleled. The previous franchise entry generated $800 million USD in sales within a single day of its 2013 launch. Total revenue for that title now stands around the $10 billion USD mark, driven heavily by ongoing microtransactions and premium memberships in its online multiplayer mode. The upcoming sequel is expected to eventually sell hundreds of millions of copies, establishing a highly lucrative player base for the next decade.Implementing such complex details demands extraordinary manpower, directly impacting working conditions at the studio. The project has faced scrutiny following employee allegations of intense late-night working hours and mandatory overtime. These labor disputes escalated when the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain filed formal legal claims against the developer. The union alleges that more than 30 workers were targeted for dismissal due to organizing efforts, framing the firings as collective victimization linked to trade union activity. Company representatives firmly denied the union busting accusations, claiming the staff members were terminated for distributing confidential information in a public forum.

Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast

The seven-figure result rode on a single detail that separates this copy from every other: its grade. The card carries a CGC Pristine 10, and it stands alone at that tier. Fanatics Collect billed it as potentially "the single greatest copy" of Gold Star Rayquaza, noting that no Pristine 10 example turns up in the BGS or TAG registries either. That scarcity is a function of how the card was made. CGC has pointed to frequent factory edge wear across the EX Deoxys set, and out of more than 250 copies the grader has assessed, only 12 reached Gem Mint 10 and just one climbed to Pristine 10.The price math underlines how much that half-grade is worth at the top of the market. A Gem Mint 10 of the same card changed hands for $168,000 USD on July 19, which means the Pristine copy pulled more than six times that figure barely a month later. Bidding reflected the appetite, with 35 offers pushing the final number past seven figures.Gold Star Rayquaza has long carried grail status for collectors, and the sale slots it into a shifting record hierarchy. The result topped the previous English-language high by $65,200 USD, a mark held by a PSA Gem Mint 10 First Edition Base Set Charizard from Logan Paul and Ken Goldin's 2021 box break, which sold for $954,800 USD in February. The overall Pokémon ceiling remains far higher, set by Logan Paul's Japanese Pikachu Illustrator at $16.492 million USD earlier this year, still the most expensive trading card ever sold at auction. The card's pedigree traces to a run that collectors have chased since the mid-2000s. Gold Star cards arrived in 2004 and surfaced at a rate of roughly one per two booster boxes, or once every 72 packs, each rendering a shiny Pokémon with artwork that spills beyond the standard illustration window. Rayquaza has become the most coveted of the group, and this copy now anchors the English market's first million-dollar milestone. The sale marks a new benchmark for English-language Pokémon cards, and it widens the gap collectors will measure future grails against. Whether another English card can close the distance to the Japanese record remains the open question hanging over the hobby.

Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast

During a recent interview with BBC News at gamescom, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed that the upcoming initiative known as Project Helix is being designed as a versatile family of devices. The clarification marks a notable pivot from early announcements that implied the codename belonged to a singular flagship console. Sharma emphasized that the internal team is hard at work on this expanded hardware suite while pointing out a broader industry need to prioritize affordability and efficiency. This expanded scope relies heavily on a strategic multi-year partnership previously established with AMD. The two technology giants have been collaborating on a custom SoC architecture meant to bridge the historical gap between conventional living room consoles and high-fidelity desktop computing. By engineering a portfolio of Xbox hardware capable of natively running both traditional console titles and PC games Microsoft aims to deliver unprecedented flexibility to its player base. The pivot toward a multi-device ecosystem has naturally fueled speculation regarding third-party manufacturing. Industry rumors suggest that outside hardware partners could eventually develop and sell their own Project Helix systems. Xbox Vice President of Next Generation Jason Ronald recently addressed the platform by carefully noting it would be available as a first-party console. His specific phrasing pointedly left the door open for authorized third-party alternatives.Physical media compatibility remains an open question for the new hardware family. Sharma deflected inquiries about whether Project Helix will abandon physical disc drives entirely. Microsoft did however recently introduce a disc-to-digital conversion program designed to help users migrate their physical game libraries to a digital format. This timing strongly hints at a hardware ecosystem built primarily around digital distribution.Concrete technical specifications and consumer pricing details remain tightly guarded secrets. AMD executives previously hinted at a target release window aligning with the late 2020s. Ronald corroborated this timeline by confirming that alpha versions of the new hardware will not even reach developers until 2027. Leading the charge is an upgraded 27-inch Odyssey G6 (G60H) capable of hitting an astonishing 1,100Hz. This blistering speed marks a slight increase over the 1,040Hz prototype showcased earlier this year and directly challenges LG’s upcoming 1,000Hz UltraGear model. Players can access this maximum output by dropping the resolution to FHD while the native 1440p mode still delivers a massive 600Hz. The dual-mode IPS display also features a 1ms response time and carries both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync compatibility.Beyond raw LCD speed the brand introduced severe firepower to its premium OLED roster. The 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SJ) arrives as a super ultra-wide powerhouse built on a fifth-generation Penta Tandem QD-OLED panel. This hardware structural upgrade makes the display up to 1.3 times more efficient while doubling its overall lifespan. Gamers can push the monitor to 360Hz at its native 5120 x 1440 resolution or engage a dual-mode function to hit 720Hz at 2560 x 720. Additional specs include an RGB-stripe pixel layout for improved text clarity, a blistering 0.03ms response time and a peak brightness of 1,300 nits.Flexibility takes center stage with the 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SJ). This unit introduces a unique triple mode system tailored for diverse gaming scenarios. Users can seamlessly switch between UHD at 360Hz, QHD at 520Hz and FHD at 680Hz depending on their performance needs. Connectivity is equally robust featuring DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, dual HDMI 2.1 slots and a USB-C port supplying 98W of power delivery. The panel also earns a VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification for elite contrast and color depth.Rounding out the premium tier is the Odyssey OLED G7 (G75SJ) which Samsung claims is the world’s first 42-inch curved 16:9 OLED gaming monitor. Offering a 4K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate the screen utilizes an aggressive 1000R curvature to maximize immersion. It also incorporates a specialized Glare-Free film coating designed to reduce reflections by 54 percent compared to standard anti-reflective treatments. Pushing past the 1,000Hz barrier proves that top-tier hardware manufacturers view overkill refresh rates as the ultimate bragging right for competitive gaming. The Odyssey G6 is expected to launch globally by the end of 2026 though pricing for the full 2027 lineup remains under wraps.

Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast

The legendary developer shared a message across social media expressing deep disappointment that players are experiencing the game through unauthorized footage rather than the studio's carefully planned rollout. The candid post described the ordeal as heartbreaking for the entire development team. Fans quickly rallied behind the studio, helping the statement rack up over 380,000 likes on X within an hour of going live. The official communication follows a relentless week of persistent leaks attributed to a source known as CyberLeek. This individual or organization has shared daily clips from an apparently playable early build of the open world game. Recent unauthorized videos showcased protagonists Jason and Lucia in action. One specific clip featured Jason carjacking a vehicle bearing a "Rideout Customs" logo to evade police pursuit. The perpetrator has aggressively weaponized the stolen content online, utilizing the massive attention to promote a cryptocurrency scheme. In a strategic move to regain control of the narrative, Rockstar Games announced a unique partnership with Netflix. The streaming giant will host an extended look at the criminal underworld of Leonida starting at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday. The studio noted that the presentation took longer than expected to prepare but promised to deliver an experience that exceeds fan expectations. Despite the massive internal security failure, the developer firmly reiterated its commitment to the previously confirmed November 19 launch date. This ongoing crisis represents an unprecedented challenge in modern video game history given the massive cultural impact and market anticipation surrounding the franchise. Parent company Take-Two Interactive is aggressively pursuing the source of the breach. The publisher recently requested legal authority to subpoena platforms including Discord and Microsoft. Investigators hope these aggressive legal maneuvers will unmask the identity behind the cyberattack and halt further story spoilers before the highly anticipated title officially hits store shelves. View this post on Instagram

Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
